The boerewors you buy from national retailers have more ingredients in than you can imagine. The list is very long and unsavoury, which is why it will shock you that all you get in our boerewors is our beef, unwashed Khoisan salt, some 12-year-old Rosendal vinegar, coriander, nutmeg, black pepper and a touch of cloves. It’s pure goodness.

Farmer Angus family and friends

The team at Profile Feeds in Paarl have been amazing supporters for the last 11 years. At first, they were the only feed company prepared to provide us with a free-range ration for our broilers and layers. Broiler food is very heavily medicated to ensure fast growth.
Then about 8 years ago we started. on the journey towards non-GMO food. Despite us being their smallest client they have accommodated us and for the last few years, we have given our chickens and pigs a Glyphosate free ration.

What inspires me

EF Schumacher inspires me every time I read something of his. I am currently rereading his book “Small is beautiful” which has the subtitle “A study of economics as if people mattered”. If you ponder this title and the subtitle it will tell you all you need to know about what is wrong in the world of economics today, where exactly the opposite is taught as being desirable.
Underpinning all his writing are, for me, two themes namely justice for humans and the earth and, although he does not use the phrase, true cost accounting.
