Last week we hosted 16 journalists from some of SA’s top media channels. They braved the cold and the early morning to join us for a circle, move the Eggmobiles, and greet the laying hens before collecting their newly laid eggs. We then all watched Chef Brady from Eight at Spier make poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce, which we got to eat. Watch this awesome video taken by News24.com’s Traveller24 editor.

For the last three years, I’ve been studying the art of Jiu-jitsu, an ancient Japanese martial art. Just last week I was awarded my blue belt, which is like going from kindergarten to primary school. It’s been an incredible journey and one I encourage you all to explore if you are remotely interested in the sport.

What inspires me

I’ve re-read the inimitable Alice Waters 5 principles of Edible Education. Not only did she bring farmers to the forefront of good cooking, but her multi-year investment in the importance of Edible Education (educating kids about food) is truly inspirational.
If only our Minister of Education could implement these. Our children would be much better off for life.
