New grass fed beef venture. I don’t supply any butcher anymore.

As of today I will not be supplying any butchery with beef from our farm.

I am in the process of building a small meat processing plant on our farm where I will process our Spier Pasture Reared Beef.

For clients/butcheries who do want guaranteed grass fed beef I have teamed up with the Durr Family of WLA to form a partnership called Cape Veld Beef.

The meat sold under this label will have this sticker on.

We guarantee two things. First that the farmer gets paid more than the feedlot price and second that the animal has had no grains or growth hormones.

1. For grass fed cattle or veldbeeste the farmers always get paid a discount to feedlot, usually R2 per kg less, sometimes R1 per kg less.

2. 99% of the beef market is feedlot cattle that have been artificially fattened very quickly. None of the artificial stimulants will be employed for a Cape Veld animal.

We have deliberately called it Cape Veld Beef to encompass the Western and Eastern Cape so that we can guarantee supply year round.

By Thursday we will have a website up for Cape Veld Beef that will explain in more detail what we are about.

If you are a butchery who wants grass fed beef then please contact Toit Durr on 082 454 6801 and if you are a farmer who wants to supply Cape Veld Beef then contact me on 082 379 4391

You still list Bill Riley as an outlet for your beef on your website – is this still true, or is the website out of date?
